1. Acceptance of these website terms
This website is operated for Lithography Art, a fine-art stone lithography studio based in Woodstock, Cape Town and serving artists and collectors across South Africa. These terms govern your use of the site, including browsing pages, submitting enquiries, reading studio information and requesting details about prints, editions and related services.
If you do not agree with these terms, you should stop using the site. We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our studio operations, legal obligations or content. The version published on the site at the time of use will apply.
2. How our studio information may be used
The information on this site is provided to help you understand stone lithography, our editioning process and the services offered by our studio. It is intended for general guidance only and should not be treated as legal, conservation or framing advice for every situation. For example, paper choice, framing methods and archival storage can vary depending on the print, the inks used and the environment where the work will be kept.
You may view, save or print pages for personal reference, provided you do not alter the content or remove any notices. You may not copy, republish, scrape, reproduce or distribute site text, images or layout for commercial use without our prior written permission.
- Use the site for lawful and proper purposes only.
- Do not interfere with site security, forms or server access.
- Do not misrepresent your identity when submitting an enquiry.
- Do not use our content to imply endorsement or partnership without consent.
3. Enquiries, studio visits and order discussions
Our enquiry form is the correct channel for questions about studio visits, stone lithography printing, proofing sessions, edition planning, signing and numbering, paper consultation and collector advice. We may respond to requests from Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Sea Point and Newlands, subject to studio availability and the nature of the work requested.
Submitting an enquiry does not create a binding agreement. Any print commission, edition plan, framing coordination, archival packing arrangement or collector instruction is only confirmed once the details have been agreed with the studio and accepted by us in writing. Where a project requires artist approval, proofing or edition changes, timings may shift accordingly.
- Studio visits are by arrangement only.
- We may decline requests that do not suit the technical limits of stone lithography.
- Editioning and final numbering are completed only after approval of the agreed proof.
- Any delivery or collection instructions must be confirmed clearly before dispatch.
4. Limited editions, signing and print care
Drawn or worked onto a prepared limestone surface, the image in stone lithography is printed by hand as part of a carefully controlled edition. Because the process is handmade, small variations are part of the character of the work and may occur between proofs and final impressions. Limited editions are numbered and signed according to the agreed edition plan, and once an edition is closed, no further prints from that edition should be made.
Information on this site about care, framing and storage is general only. Prints should be handled with clean, dry hands and kept away from direct sun, damp walls and areas with high humidity. In coastal homes, especially around Cape Town and Durban, care should be taken to avoid moisture.
- Store unframed prints flat in clean archival packaging.
- Use acid-free materials for mounting and backing where possible.
- Avoid folding, rolling tightly or placing heavy objects on prints.
- If a print is framed, use a professional frame service familiar with fine art handling.
5. Intellectual property and studio rights
All text, photographs, page structure, studio descriptions and other content on this site are protected by intellectual property law unless stated otherwise. Lithography Art and its contributors retain all rights not expressly granted to visitors. This includes rights in original images of works, edition notes, technical descriptions and any studio material presented for public viewing.
You may not use our content in a way that suggests ownership, authorship or endorsement by another party. Any artist works, proofs or edition records discussed through the studio remain subject to the rights agreed with the relevant artist or client. If you need permission to reproduce any material, please ask before use.
6. Liability, governing law and operator details
While we take care to keep site information accurate and current, we do not guarantee that every detail will always be complete, uninterrupted or error free.
South African law applies to these Lithography Art terms. The site and its administration are operated by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd on behalf of Lithography Art. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue in force.
By continuing to use the site, you confirm that you understand these terms and agree to use the website in a respectful and lawful manner.
